Push for medical marijuana not enough in Florida

Crowds of passionate supporters, pleas of compassion for the sick and a majority of Florida’s votes were not enough to fend off accusations that a medical marijuana initiative was riddled with holes.

Amendment 2 had just under 58 percent support with nearly all precincts reporting early Wednesday, just shy of the 60 percent threshold needed to pass.

Relentless advertising saying that the ballot measure would result in a system where marijuana was medical in name only prevailed with voters.
